The autogyro is an hybrid halfway between the helicopter and the plane

The principal rotor is powered by the relative wind generated by the tractive engine equipped with a propeller which gives horizontal speed to the manner of a plane.

The CIERVA C30 represents certainly one of the most advanced autogyros.

It was built since 1933 in England, in France, in Germany and in the United States.

In all, 146 machines were produced.

They were used mainly for the aerial observation and some was even useful on aircraft carriers.

The CIERVA flew until 1945 and were then supplanted by the helicopters.
